    PROFILE

    Artan Qerkini is one of the two founders of the law firm Sejdiu & Qerkini L.L.C. He has been licensed to practice law in Kosovo since 2007. He is also admitted as a Specialized Attorney and can thus practice law before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague. Mr. Qerkini is also a Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Kosovo Bar Association in the Specialized Chambers.

    Following his admission as attorney, Mr. Qerkini headed the legal department of a large company in Kosovo.  Moreover, from 2002 to 2006, Mr. Qerkini also served as the Secretary General of the Kosovo Basketball Federation.  In this capacity, he handled all legal matters of the Federation as well as managing its administrative and organizational functions and activities. From April 2010 to 2014, he also served as a Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of the Republic of Kosovo.

    From 2007 and on, Mr. Qerkini practices law and has developed primarily a criminal defence record that is second to none.  He has successfully defended clients in high profile cases, including those charged with war crimes and while collar crimes.  Deservingly, he is now known as one of the most notable criminal defence attorneys in the country, and beyond.

    Since 2018, Mr. Qerkini is also engaged as a Lecturer at UBT College in Prishtina, where he teaches Criminal Procedure and Civil Procedure.  In the past, he also taught Civil Law at the Faculty of Law of the Royal University “Iliria” in Prishtina.

    Mr. Qerkini continuously takes part in various conferences and training seminars that discuss and elaborate on the most recent legal changes relating to criminal law and procedure in Kosovo, region and beyond. Further, Mr. Qerkini is one of the drafters of the new Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

    In addition to Albanian, he also speaks English and Serbian fluently.
