PROFILE

Lea Meraku is a Legal Consultant at Sejdiu & Qerkini Law Firm. She joined the firm in 2022 as a Legal Intern and went on to become an Associate in 2024.

Ms. Meraku advises on a broad range of matters, including contracts, litigation, dispute resolution, foreign investment, and corporate and commercial transactions, advising both local and international clients. She draws on a background in both civil law and common law systems, together with her training in international law. Having studied and worked in both legal traditions, she explains Kosovo law to international clients in terms familiar to them, and advises local clients on matters governed by foreign law.

Ms. Meraku has international experience in both the professional and academic field. After completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Switzerland, she studied Law (LLB) for two years at the University of Edinburgh, achieving First Class Honours. She then resumed her degree at the University of Prishtina, graduating in 2024. In 2025, she completed a Master’s degree in Contracts and Commercial Law at the University of Prishtina, graduating with Honours. In 2026, she graduated with Distinction from University College London (UCL), obtaining an LLM in International Law. Her Research Essay focused on denial of benefits clauses in international investment treaties.

She served as a Research Assistant to the United Nations International Law Commission’s Special Rapporteur on compensation for damage caused by internationally wrongful acts, working in London and Geneva. She has also been engaged as a Consultant and Trainer at the OSCE.

In 2026, Ms. Meraku has been appointed as an Assistant at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina. She participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2023, receiving Best Oralist awards in both the European Rounds in Geneva (4th in Europe) and International Rounds in Washington, D.C. (16th in the World). She later coached teams for the Jessup Competition and, in London, the UCL team for the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition.

She has particular interest in commercial law, civil law, international investment law, and international public and private law.

In addition to Albanian, she is fluent in English and has an intermediate knowledge of French and Turkish.
